Pilot Plants & User Facilities

AST has several pilot and bench scale plants which can be available for academia and industrial users.

Ideas developed at the bench scale can be scaled up to pilot and demonstration scales, allowing AST researchers and our collaborators to explore the commercial viability of a process.

AST partners and collaborators are able to take advantage of these pilot units:

• 2 types of pyrolysis units - sand bed and auger
• 2 million gallons / year bio-diesel plant
• 20 kg fractionation process
• 100 L hydrolysis unit
• 147 L fermentor
